Overview of”Astroball”

The best way to get my baseball fix is to read baseball books Since the baseball season heads into the All-Star fracture. I started with this publication on the Houston Astros and their approach which took them from three straight 100 loss seasons to world champions. Here is my review of”Astroball”

Baseball is well into a new age where statistical data is analyzed and used for nearly every decision a group makes, where players to draft to where to put those gamers on the diamond when a batter steps into the box. While the concept started in the early 2000′s using”Moneyball”, the revolutionary book by Michael Lewis about the Oakland Athletics with this plan, the Houston Astros dug deeper into statistical evaluation and their work paid off with a World Series championship in 2017. How they got there is the storyline of the excellent publication by Sports Illustrated writer Ben Reiter.
It’s important to be aware that Reiter is a Sports Illustrated writer because he wrote a cover story to the magazine at 2014 predicting that the Astros would be the 2017 champions. Since the Astros were suffering through their third season of more than 100 losses, it seemed outlandish at the time. However, the brain trust of general manager Scott Luhnow and rocket-scientist-turned-baseball-analyst Sig Mejdal found their strategy implemented beginning in 2011 was starting to take shape.
